Upon completion of this course students will have completed a professional portfolio of original musical compositions and arrangements in various jazz styles and for various instrumentations. In addition students will produce a final performance (either live or recorded) of the works.
Students will complete a portfolio of original compositions and arrangements which demonstrates expertise in Jazz harmony, compositional techniques, and orchestration. Students will demonstrate mastery of these skills and concepts, as well as the development of an individual compositional style, by completing a portfolio of scores. The student will further develop skills in working with performers, leading rehearsals, and conducting and/or producing performances.
