To gain an understanding of how drugs work on physiological systems and their use in management of selected disorders.
An introduction to the principles of pharmacology and the management of selected disorders with drugs.
Topics covered in this course include: drug targets, basics of pharmacokinetics, peripheral nervous system pharmacology, respiratory disorders, cardiovascular conditions, inflammation and pain, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, sedative and anxiolytic medications, drugs for spasticity, osteoporosis, diabetes, endocrine drugs, antimicrobials, epilepsy, depression, psychosis and bipolar disorder, parkinson’s disease, alzheimer’s disease, cancer.
