Course aim

To design and construct a relational database for a small organisation.

Course content

Information, data, database, database management systems.
Relational model.
Database constraints: keys and referential constraints.
SQL data definition, SQL data manipulation, SQL queries.
Selection, projection, join and outer joins, union, except, intersection, views and aggregation.
Database design (conceptual, logical and physical).
Unified modelling language and normalisation.
Access control and database administration.
