Course aim

To extend students' knowledge on the social world by examining the contemporary manifestations of globalisation and engage in debate about their nature, consequences and futures.

Course content

This course further develops student understanding of the concepts and theories surrounding the phenomenon of globalisation. The notion of globalisation captures the ways in which the world is becoming more culturally, economically, socially, and politically inter-connected. In this course, students will consider the complexities of how globalisation affects people's lives. This involves exploring the global dimensions of poverty, migration, identity, alongside other social issues. Students in this course will also consider the strengths and limits of globalisation as an analytical concept.
