Course aim

To extend social, cultural and linguistic knowledge of Asia at an intermediate level by expanding students' understanding of communication in its cultural context and deepening their sociocultural awareness and intercultural understanding in Asian communities.

Course content

Students will engage in language study and participate in intercultural opportunities for communication and intellectual exchange. The course requires students to undertake a negotiated program within a host institution in-country and actively investigate contemporary and historic themes and topics that extend their understanding of language, culture and society and deepen their intercultural understanding of Asian societies.

Completion of Language 1B in the target language within the Bachelor of Arts, or equivalent by approval from the Program Director. COURSE ALERT: This course is not available to students who have completed: LANG 2036 Japanese In-Country
