To provide the opportunity for students to analyse a framework of social, cultural, environmental, economic, political and psychological perspectives on food, wine and festivals as destination attractions; to facilitate students understanding of complex consumer behaviour of food and wine tourism markets; to enable students to evaluate the impacts of tourism and effective strategies for developing food, wine and festival tourism destinations
Special interest tourism; role of food, wine and festivals as ‘new’ tourist attractions; multiple perspectives on food, wine and drinks; taste of food and wine culture; gastronomy, international cuisines, and restaurants; demand and supply for tourism products and services; market segmentation; tourist behaviour; food and wine markets; role of rituals in food and wine festivals; emerging trends and issues in food and wine tourism destinations; tourism impacts and various strategies for sustainable tourism development; destination competitiveness, development and marketing; demands and interests of stakeholders; challenges of food, wine and festival tourism.
