Course aim

To extend students' knowledge by exploring cultural transfers in contemporary intercultural performance and develop an advanced understanding of Indigenous value systems and how cultural boundaries are marked or transcended in performance.

Course content

The course focuses on world musics and world drama by tracing the manifestation of diverse practices in intercultural performance globally and in Australia. Students study the particular idioms of prominent world artists, seminal performances and the major respective festivals held in Adelaide - WOMADelaide and OzAsia. Students have the opportunity to research intercultural performance and to develop their own creative work.

Completion of all required second year courses from the Performing Arts major/sub-major within the Bachelor of Arts, or by approval from the Program Director.
