Course aim

To advance students' understanding of how place has developed historically as a site of cultural life. Students will advance their knowledge of identities as always historical, political, cultural and visual.

Course content

Students will critically examine topics such as cultural myths, Internet, consumerism, home, small towns, environment, trauma and the body, and will draw on historical and contemporary field work to enable them to understand the development of the field of cultural geography and to apply its tools of research.

Completion of any two second year courses from the History and Cultural Studies major/sub-major within the Bachelor of Arts, or by approval from the Program Director.
