Course aim

To extend students' knowledge of the nature, demands and educational outcomes associated with games and sports, and to explore key issues associated with learning and teaching these activities.

Course content

Students will analyse the key aspects of skilled play in a variety of sports by identifying and structural constraints across a variety of game categories, and apply the principles and precepts of the Play Practice approach to positively promote participation and enable broader educative outcomes associated with engagement and development of skilled players. Students will also investigate theoretical constructs from dynamical systems, complexity thinking and non-linear pedagogy underpinning the facilitation of effective learning and teaching/coaching practice.
