To enable students to expand upon their professional knowledge and skills to work competently in Secondary School Design and Technology workshop settings.
Students will further develop their Design and Technology knowledge and skills in Work Health and Safety (WHS), year 7-10 Design and Technology projects, workshop procedures and making procedures. Students will learn about SOPs (Safe Operating Procedures) for workshop equipment and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets). Students will use the workshop facilities to design and construct an "Item of Balance" using metal shaping and joining techniques including welding and cold forming. Students will also design and construct a multi-part artefact using natural, recycled and manufactured timber products (or suitable combinations of polymer, timber and trans materials or metals) to make their artefact, 'Building on the Foundations'.
