Course aim

To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of groundwater hydrology and the knowledge and skills to assess and manage groundwater resources sustainably.

Importance of groundwater; Groundwater as part of water cycle, concept of water balance
Geology and groundwater, Rock types, Aquifers, aquitards and aquicludes; Groundwater storage; Groundwater flow; Groundwater / Surface water interaction; Quality and chemistry of groundwater; Locating groundwater; Groundwater dependent ecosystems; Groundwater management
