For students to develop specialised knowledge in theoretical framework of movement and skills in the assessment and rehabilitation of movement across the lifespan.
Students will learn the introductory clinical knowledge and skills required for rehabilitation physiotherapy practice across the lifespan. Content includes the lifespan perspective of motor development, application of motor control and motor learning into physiotherapy practice; typical human growth and development; causes and mechanisms of a typical movement across the lifespan; neuroplasticity, recovery and function; ICF framework; postural control, gait, upper limb function; movement analysis; motor skills; assessment of substrates of movement (tone, sensation and movement coordination); use of objective outcome measures, principles of rehabilitation, Issues in paediatrics, Issues in gerontology e.g. frailty, dementia care.
