Course aim

To develop a theoretical and practical understanding of sensors and sensor systems appropriate to vehicles and unmanned systems. Individual sensors are introduced followed by combinations of sensors and sensory modalities. Teaching emphasises the analysis of system level performance of integrated systems of sensors.

Course content

The course covers sensor systems appropriate to autonomous systems operating in the domains of air, sea, land, planetary exploration and indoor environments. Techniques for design and analysis are introduced.
