Course aim

The aim of this course is to provide students with a high level understanding of complex scenarios and systems including autonomous systems. The course will focus on the concept of "emergence" and emergent behaviour of systems. Students will learn the critical role played by systems integration in the realisation of full systems including, hardware, software, and human systems.

Course content

This course covers the concept of systems, emergence and emergent behaviour of systems including autonomous systems. The critical role of systems integration in the realisation of large scale systems will be described in detail. Systems concept of operation, systems requirements, systems architecture, conceptual systems design, interfaces and integration issues. Sources of risks in the design, development, integration and delivery of complex systems. Systems integration maturity levels. Technical risk assessment  and risk mitigation strategies.
Networking of subsystems and systems to form a system
