Chinese for Social Interaction

Course aim

To introduce the Chinese language and culture and develop knowledge and skills necessary to learn and communicate in Chinese as a second or additional language. 

Course content

Students will develop an introductory level understanding of the essential features of Chinese language, culture and communication. This will include features of the Chinese writing system and spoken language as well as an overview of the nature of Chinese language structures. They will develop an understanding of the grammatical concepts with a focus on language in use, vocabulary related to everyday topics and social contexts' aspects of contemporary Chinese culture and society relevant to everyday contexts for communicating in Chinese.
