This course will enable registered nurses to expand and extend their knowledge of current practices and principles underlying the prevention of cardiac disease and maintenance of cardiovascular health.
Pathophysiology and management of biomedical and lifestyle/behavioural risk factors that contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease; absolute risk and the assessment tools used to identify individual risk of cardiovascular disease; principles of primary health care, health promotion, prevention; health education and behaviour change models; cardiac rehabilitation; heart failure management; principles of evaluating the effectiveness of cardiovascular health from the individual to the program.
