This course will assist registered nurses working in cardiovascular health to extend their skills and knowledge of current practice and principles in the care and management of adults with acute cardiac conditions.
Anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system, pathophysiology of common cardiac disorders, assessment and diagnostic testing, management of the acutely ill cardiac patient with an emphasis on the role of the nurse in cardiac emergencies (acute myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, arrhythmia, acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock), and current interventional modalities and political, social, environmental and economic issues relating to acute cardiac care.
