The aim of the course is to enable well-informed contributions by legal and policy advisors and commentators in government, civil society (including academe) and commerce on legal aspects of space security, globally and domestically, through legal and political instruments, diplomatic negotiations and representation, conferences and meetings.
Space environment (including space weather and basic physics on the use of space); global strategic interests in space (including introduction to 'strategy'); space power theory and comparative strategic space policies; military and national security uses of space, including space power doctrine; civil and commercial uses of space ; review of basic principles of space law; launch regulation, operationally responsive space and space traffic management, including rendezvous and proximity operations; legal principles applicable to law on space exploration and exploitation; regulating terrestrial elements of space services; military use of satellite communications; regulating use of electro magnetic radiation in space and electronic warfare; international cooperation, technology and information sharing in space activities; legal principles applicable to position, navigation and timing; space-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; space situational awareness; missile early warning and ballistic missile defence; force application (from space) and counter space operations; cyberspace operations in space.
