To extend students’ critical understanding of concepts, principles and processes of curriculum design in language learning.
Students will examine the theoretical bases for curriculum design, including analysing constructions of curriculum and assessment frameworks. They will consider issues of sequencing and progression in language curriculum design and investigate longitudinal perspectives on planning, teaching and learning, and assessment. Students will reflect on the 'planned' and the 'experienced' curriculum and understand the process of evaluation in relation to languages curricula.
