For preservice teachers to develop capacities to participate as a member of the teaching team in an early years setting, with infants and toddlers, through engaging with children and planning, implementing and documenting learning in co-constructed play-based curricula.
Preservice teachers will explore the role of the educator in an infant and toddler context. Preservice teachers will explore, social, economic and political contexts for early years education, the importance of partnerships and relationships with families, community and other agencies and the organisational and legal requirements, policies and practice required in infant and toddler settings. Preservice teachers will focus on constructivist based pedagogies through engaging children in planning, implementing documenting and reflecting upon learning and development through play in infant and toddler settings.
