Course aim

To enable constructivist perspectives of student learning and focuses on interactive approaches to teaching science and mathematics from Years 3 to 9.

Course content

Students will develop critical analysis of constructivist perspectives of learning, social constructivist pedagogies including approaches to teaching, thinking and working mathematically and scientifically. Students will investigate key concepts in sorting and classifying, pattern, number, living things, force and motion using an ecologically sustainable context of the Years 3 to 9 curriculum. Students will also investigate key concepts embedded in the biological and physical science substrands of the 'Science Understanding Strands', number and algebra strand from Year 3 to 9 curriculum. The students will use the planning, teaching and evaluation of learning experiences in their Professional Experience and Reflection 1 classrooms.
