To explore methodological approaches in arts education and identify the potential of institutional, community and virtual arts related resources.
Research methodologies in arts education are concerned with both research and practice in arts education. Methodological approaches to arts education as both creative practice and research includes explorations of reflexive arts education pedagogies. Innovative curriculum development and design are explored through theory and practice in arts education. Students will examine arts-specific teaching and learning case-studies, as well as curriculum and pedagogy relative to the 5 various arts curriculum subjects (Dance, Drama, Music, Media Arts and Visual Arts). Students will extend their knowledge of the Arts curriculum and practice with a special emphasis on culturally responsive pedagogies in and through the arts.
