Course aim

To introduce students to the principles of the major theories of learning and human development, and to apply the theories to practice in educational settings. 

Course content

This course will include the following topics:

All Specialisations:
Introduction and Overview; Brain Development and Executive Functioning; Intelligence (Nurture/Nature); Cognitive 1; Socio-Cultural 1; Ecological Systems Theories; Information Processing 1

Early Childhood Specialisation:
Problem Solving; Cognitive 2; Socio-Cultural 2; Information Processing 2; Learning Stories.

Primary, Primary and Middle Specialisations:
Information Processing 2; Social and Moral; Learning Stories (for Primary specialisation) / Special Needs (for Primary and Middle specialisation); Learning Theory 1 & 2.
