To build students’ understanding of the role of language and literacy for learning in professional and academic contexts.
Students will develop knowledge of a socio-cultural approach to language and literacy for learning. Students will be introduced to a functional model of language, examining the literacy practices and demands of professional and academic contexts. Students will also explore approaches to the language development and language diversity, considering the implications for educational settings. Students will convey their learning through the analysis of texts and oral presentations, demonstrating their competency in professional and academic literacy practices.
