School of Education
To enable students as pre-service teachers to develop awareness of the social and community contexts of educational settings, the roles of teachers, and the links between schools, and other agencies in providing for childrens'/students' learning and welfare.
The students will develop their knowledge of themselves as learners, the social, economic and political contexts of educational service provisions, community and interagency links, the role of teacher and the organisation, policies and practices and relationships that are central to classroom and school learning environments, including child protection and well-being issues. They will begin to develop skills in relationship building, observation, teaching individuals and small groups, and reflecting on learning and practice on their supervised placement.
