Course aim

The aim of this course is to enable students to develop the knowledge, skills and expertise necessary to implement and evaluate a collaborative project with a community agency.

Course content

Philosophical and theoretical basis for community orientated practice. Processes and strategies relevant to community orientated approaches. Visits and liaison with community based agencies to identify potential projects, liaise with key stakeholders and develop a project to meet the needs and aims of one agency. Acquisition of skills for project planning and development. Full-time or equivalent field practice affiliation working in a community setting. Development of project implementation and evaluation skills under the supervision of a field practice tutor and the agency supervisor.
