Course aim

To introduce students to the practical aspects of Pitjantjatjara language and culture as a basis for communicating effectively with Pitjantjatjara people.

Course content

Students will develop a basic understanding and knowledge of Pitjantjatjara language and culture through the study of the Pitjantjatjara language, the study of Aboriginal languages, the concept of Ngapartji and reciprocal exchange, the process of learning Aboriginal languages, the interface with English languages, exploration of the Pitjantjatjara language source materials – vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and translation, and interaction with fluent speakers.
