To develop an understanding of principles and implications of biopsychosocial physiotherapy practice.
Biopsychosocial models underpinning and influencing individual and community health behaviors, behavior change processes and physiotherapy assessment, planning and practice; communication skills for identifying and clarifying biopsychosocial cues for action within client encounters; Physiotherapy oriented introductory skills in behaviour change approaches, cultural competence and inclusive practice; Relationships between thoughts, beliefs and behaviours specific to health, how these inform psychological strategies (cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, stress management) and implications for physiotherapy practice; Relationships between social factors and health of specific populations including Aboriginal and Torres Islanders, how these inform culturally responsive strategies and implications for physiotherapy practice.
