To develop an understanding of the impact of individual factors and society on the cause, progression and consequences of health, illness and disability that underpin the biopsychosocial model.
Psychology of group work; risk behaviours of individuals and populations, pain and disability perspectives (thoughts, beliefs, emotions, motivation, compliance, illness cognitions etc.) facilitating patient change and professional stress and burnout.
Using the social determinants of health framework to explore health issues for particular populations, including older and rural Australians, migrants workers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders; sociological analysis of health professions in Australian society.
