Course aim

Students will learn how to plan and conduct a complex project, with an emphasis on electrical or electronic design, generally in a team setting.

Course content

Students will individually, or as a small consortium, submit an expression of interest to undertake a project. The allocated supervisor will guide the project team through steps to ensure that the team fully understands the project context and the sponsor’s needs, translates these into a set of system requirements, and acquires additional detailed theoretical knowledge through self-directed learning to better understand the technical requirements. The team will investigate and evaluate alternative solutions, select and formulate a preferred method that is achievable with the available resources, allocate project tasks, and produce and present the detailed design and documentation of the system to be implemented in the second project.
