To introduce Cloud Computing and virtualisation concepts and to prepare students to manage the move by a small to medium organisation to using Cloud Computing.
Introduction to Cloud Computing: Defining Cloud Computing; assessing the value proposition; understanding Cloud architecture; understanding services and applications by type.
Using cloud platforms: Understanding abstraction and virtualisation; capacity planning; platform as a service; using a Cloud service (at least one of: Google web Services, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Cloud Services)
Cloud Governance and case studies: Organisational readiness and change management; Data security; legal issues
Cloud Services and Applications: understanding Service Oriented Architecture; moving applications to the Cloud; achieving production readiness for Cloud services
Using the Mobile Cloud: Working with mobile devices; Working with mobile web services
