The aim of this course is to develop students' knowledge, skills and attitude to enable them to understand mental health and common mental health issues.
Mental health and wellness across the lifespan, cultural and social construction of mental illness, mental state assessment, therapeutic communication skills, schizophrenia, psychosis, depression, anxiety disorder, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorders, self harming behaviours, suicide, de-escalation, psychopharmacological and psychosocial interventions, recovery, evidence based practice, safety and quality, law and ethics, Mental Health Act, Guardianship and Administration Act.
