To introduce students to basic skills and concepts utilised in the social sciences.
This course provides an overview of the discipline of sociology in an Australian context. Topics include social division and inequality, understanding gender roles, population and urbanisation as well as examining social institutions such as work, family and marriage as well as education in Australia. This course provides a platform for a deeper understanding into Indigenous issues as well as an overview of Australia’s history and multiculturalism.
