Course aim

To introduce students to basic skills and concepts utilised in the social sciences.

Course content

Concepts of culture; sociological theories; socialisation and the construction of identity; social class and stratification; law; employment, work and welfare; economy, citizenship and governance; political structures; consumerism and globalisation; community; multi-culturism.
