Course aim

To develop the ability to identify an engineering practice research project, and to articulate the planned objectives and justification of the research project.

Course content

Research methods in engineering; professional engineering practice as a research method; research proposals as research approval documents; the concept of significance in research; the concept of novelty in research; introduction to the selection of research methods for projects; use of literature in engineering research.
