To develop students' advanced social work skills in engagement, assessment, intervention and evaluation, using diverse practice perspectives in different contexts.
Students will develop knowledge of advanced intervention practice skills in crisis intervention, assessing risk (including suicide risk), gendered violence, working with children and women affected by violence and men who use violence, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive and behavioural therapies, solutions focused skills, communication and conflict management, working with couples and families and diverse cultural contexts. The students will enhance their skills in the application of diverse practice perspectives; reflective and ethical practice; working with complexity in different practice settings and managing conflicting interests, professional judgement and decision making.
