Course aim

To develop written and interpersonal communication skills within a business environment and where there is a strong emphasis on practical application.

Course content

Analysis of research journals; reflection reports, critiquing; development of communication strategies; application of interpersonal communication; development of assertiveness skills based on models; understanding the self; self-disclosure applying active listening and giving effective management level feedback; public presentation in a hostile environment; evaluation of cross cultural non-verbal communication; persuasion techniques; conflict and negotiation styles linked to theoretical constructs; effective interviewing skills; running meetings; development of strategy; implementation of leadership styles; research design including questionnaires; applying self-disclosure; risk taking strategies; decision-making; problem solving; analysis of complex information; creative application to new situations; developing initiative for further learning.
