Course aim

To provide students with an understanding of the principles of control systems engineering as applied to practical control systems, and the concepts, techniques and software used to develop real-time computing and control applications.

Course content

Real Time: Characteristics of real-time computing systems; design issues for real-time computing systems; real-time programming languages and operating systems; distributed real-time system development.
Control: Feedback principles; modelling; performance of control systems; control systems analysis and design techniques; controller design.

NOTE: Conceded and Terminating passes will be available to undergraduates taking this course but not to postgraduates.
