Course aim

To introduce students to the basic building block of a modern digital/analogue system, their characteristics and performance.

Course content

DC and AC circuit theory, semiconductors component characteristic and application, principles and applications of operational amplifiers, binary number systems and hexadecimal representation, binary arithmetic, signed and unsigned numbers, Boolean algebra, logic gates, flip-flops, logic families, conversion between analogue and digital signals, specification of D/A and A/D converter, microprocessor and microcontroller architecture, microcontroller programming.
