Course aim

To train students in the conceptualisation and design of an individual research project culminating in the completion of a rigorous research proposal.

Course content

Foundation training in research conceptualisation and design. The course adopts a systematic approach to research design addressing establishing the research context, framing a suitable question and attendant aims, designing a theoretical framework, developing a methodological approach, identifying appropriate methods and addressing ethical issues. The course culminates with the finalisation of a rigorous and defensible research proposal.
