School of Art, Architecture and Design
To develop students' ability of design for manufacture focusing on materials and processes for low volume production, including computer aided design and CNC production methods.
The students will develop knowledge of materials and processes used for low volume manufacturing. They will develop knowledge about the use of three-dimensional computer modeling to develop, simulate and communicate designs and how computer models are used for a variety of CNC manufacturing technologies. Students will develop skills for designing within constraints imposed by materials, structures, simple mechanics, design for the environment and sustainability and low volume production. In addition students will develop skills in design simulation, development and communication via text, oral presentations, three-dimensional model making, CAD, drawing and graphic presentations.
