To develop students' theoretical awareness of contemporary responsibilities and issues that shape design practice through social, cultural, environmental and ethical scenarios.

Course content

Students will further develop knowledge about important themes and methodologies in contemporary design discourse and practice through a survey of themes related to process, identity, meaning, products, technology, etc. in relation to historical, cultural, and societal context. They will develop an understanding of how these issues are related to and influence their own design practice.
