To build and develop students' understanding of contemporary theoretical issues (e.g. social, cultural, environmental, ethical) that shape design practice.
Students will further develop knowledge about important themes and methodologies in contemporary design discourse and practice through a survey of themes related to process, identity, meaning, products, technology, etc. in relation to historical, cultural, and societal context. They will develop an understanding of how these issues are related to and influence their own design practice.
