To introduce concepts and techniques for the design ,construction and implementation of Electronic Document and Records Management Systems that satisfy user and stakeholder requirements, reflect the outputs of business analysis and make best use of the available and foreseeable implementation technologies.
This course will focus on the topics such as introduction to Records Management design supporting multiple perspectives, the EDRMS design challenges, starting point, constraints, parameters that can be chosen, modelling notations and methodologies; comparison of a variety of alternative approaches. This course will also examine the principles of EDRMS design for contemporary environments and target technologies: Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), Web Services. The Implementation of EDRMS will examine how organisations implement, manage and use electronic Document and Records Management Systems. The course focuses on the stages of EDRMS implementation, as well as on the major issues influencing implementation (including such issues as quality assurance, acceptance criteria, the human side of the uptake of EDRMS and the subsequent evaluation of the implementation). There are two principal aims in this course: 1. to introduce students to the theoretical issues and principles of EDRMS Design and implementation; 2. to balance these perspectives into a real-life case study.
