Podiatry Studies 101

Course aim

Develop clinical knowledge of commonly encountered health issues and their podiatry management in the Australian context and to introduce practice guidelines and regulatory frameworks relevant to podiatry clinical practice.

Course content

Diabetes: Types, management, complications, interventions; Arthritides: types, management, complications, interventions; Cardiovascular disease: types, management, complications, interventions; Infectious diseases: types, management, complications, interventions. Respiratory diseases. Neurological conditions. Issues in mental health. Chronic disease self management. Indigenous health. Ageing: principles application to the health professional. Infection control principles; Podiatry Acts and Regulations; Poisons Acts, OHS in the clinical setting.
