Course aim

To introduce students to the fundamental principles of geodesy and their applications in geodetic and cadastral surveying.

Course content

Geodetic reference systems. Introduction to geodetic control networks. Height systems and geoid definition. Advanced ellipsoidal computations. Redfearn’s and Vincente’s formulae. Azimuth determination by solar methods. Elementary potential theory and the role of gravity. Geoid-ellipsoid separations.
