To develop an understanding of the relationship between human physiology/psychology and flight by focusing on the function and limitations of the human body.
Terminology and principles, the role of psychology in human performance.
Flight deck design and the process of vision, the see and avoid principle, physical properties of the eye, central versus peripheral vision, level of illumination, illusions relevant to flying, visual illusions induced by terrain and runway slope.
The process of hearing and related psychological issues, auditory system interaction with visual system.
Respiration: the atmosphere and process of breathing - hypoxia and other respiratory impairments.
Sleep, jetlag and fatigue: physiological aspects - concepts as circadian rhythms.
Stress management and the influence of lifestyle factors on health, fitness and performance: alcohol, smoking, drugs and hypertension.
Single channel model of human information processing, cognition and behaviour: Information processing and memory.
Mnemonic devices for increasing the memory capacity.
