The aim of this assignment is to provide students with the opportunity to integrate the learning that they have gained in the first three years of their study in a project that simulate working in the commercial environment where the challenges are often on two levels. The first level involves solving “technical” challenges requiring intellectual and research skills and the second level involves “people” challenges requiring organisational and inter-personal skills.
The course is designed around problem based learning activities and skills and self directed learning strategies to achieve solutions to a series of multidimensional technical, social and environmental problems. It also includes strategies dealing with teamwork and self reliance in order to achieve an optimum solution.
