To develop the student’s knowledge in the design, engineering and scientific principles related to the professional practice aspects of Building Surveying and to give the students a sound knowledge base in building condition and the options for remedial works. To develop a thorough understanding of building maintenance management at both the operational and strategic levels throughout the building life cycle.
Government and Private Certifiers duties and responsibilities. Construction and structural documentation. Performance assessment of design and engineering solutions of complex buildings and structures used scientific based principles. Site procedures, notices and certification. Building inspection and report writing. Management of repair/remedial works in both a single project and as part of a Program of works for a building facility. Building maintenance management, computer analysis and modelling of facilities management.
