Course aim
To provide students with an understanding of both the theory and practice of agile development methodologies, and to enable students to develop applications within the Microsoft .NET environment.
Course content
Agile concepts – lifecycles, team structures, methodologies (e.g., XP, Crystal, Scrum), the Agile manifesto.
XP in Detail: Pair programming, informative workplace, customer involvement, user stories, project velocity, coding standards, development environments, test driven development, release planning, risk management, iteration planning, user stories, estimation, incremental requirements, refactoring, simple design, incremental design and architecture, spike solutions, performance optimisation, exploratory testing, frequent iterative releases, version control, continuous integration, collective code ownership, lightweight documentation.
NET: Languages, development environments, coding styles, API, development in a .NET language, including user interface design and integration with an SQL database.
